Worth It

OD'd on hours and hours of Tom Petty music this past weekend, having splurged to get the new DVD boxed set, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: Runnin' Down a Dream. Excellent 4-hour documentary plus a 1-hour concert DVD. Excellent rock and roll story, including a great segment on the Traveling Wilburys. Excellent music. Enough said.

By the way, it's the perfect uplifting antidote to No Country for Old Men.

Yo La Tengo in La Jolla

Fantastic concert last night by Yo La Tengo at the Sherwood Auditorium in La Jolla.

Mostly acoustic / unplugged-style set, very quiet, with lots of Q&A with the audience. Awesome!

SHARKWATER: Must-see film

What is it with Asia? Killing sharks just for their frickin' FINS? How stupid must humans be?

Go see the new documentary film SHARKWATER. And then do something about the worldwide slaughter of sharks before we lose them forever.

Worthwhile reading: New Yorker piece on Sea Shepherd.
